Electro-acupuncture used for increased motor neuron pool excitability in a patient with chronic lateral ankle instability
November 18, 2009
Dr. Spina demonstrates the use of electroacupuncture to stimulate motor neuron pool excitability in the ankle stabilizers before performing proprorioceptive rehab. This technique is used in order to promote motor re-education and proper motor program development post injury. The target muscles are the fibularis longus and the tibialis anterior which create a natural “tape job” in that they work synergistically to in lateral stability.
